Last week of August it was finally time to install the new instruments for the Surface Area & Porosity Lab that I have been looking forward to for quite some time.
The lab now houses a new instrument for physisorption measurements with three ports dedicated for micropore analysis which will especially be great for projects that study samples with the smallest of pores (zeolites, metal organic frameworks, covalent organic frameworks, activated carbon and related materials). It will also improve measurements with Krypton for samples with extremely low surface area. We can use the whole spectrum of gases available in the lab as well as a thermostat for measurements from 0-70 °C.
In addition the lab has now been upgraded with a vacuum drying station with 6 ports and individual temperature control where we can dry samples for all instruments in the lab.
During the next weeks I get to test all (or most) of the functions before I then start to train new users.
Looking forward to that too.
