On the 26th of September it was time to run 15 km on Stockholm's island of Lidingö. It was a birthday present for which I had to train a little bit.
Lidingöloppet, as the race is called, is one of the largest trail running events and its 30 km version is part of the
"Swedish classic".
(There is actually a half classic version as well for those who are interested).
It was the longest race that I had participated in up to that point. It's for sure a tough race where there are very few flat sections...it is basically going constantly up or down, in total 250 m of uphill sections. I had been at Lidingö a few times before as a spectator and to support my partner during the 30 km race, but to now running the 15 km myself was a great experience. I still cannot imagine doing 30 km, but if the body allows I'd do the 15 km again.
It's a really nice event and I can recommend checking it out if you have the opportunity.
